Bacterial diseases of plants

The project has two major objectives: to develop rapid and reliable diagnostic methods to identify known and novel bacterial pathogens of plants, and understand how one specific bacterium, Pantoea ananatis, functions as a pathogen. Standard microbiological and plant pathological tools, genotypic methods and genomics are being used to address these objectives.
