Research is focused on development of new electrochemical sensors (potentiometric electrodes, amperometric electrodes, biosensors and immunosensors) using metallophthalocyanines, carbon nanotubes, self-assembled monolayers, and metal nanoparticles. Theoretical studies of potential development as well as of molecular interactions at membrane-solution interface are also part of this focus area. Output of the research will be useful in diagnosis, pharmaceutical, food and environmental analysis and theoretical electrochemistry.
Knowledge of metal ions interactions with compounds that form complexed forms of metal species is of paramount importance in medicine, biology, pharmacy, control and protection of natural environment, industrial processes, etc., in general, anywhere where metal ions are present. Our group is involved in the development of theories, methodologies, software and hardware dedicated to (i) the study of metal complexes, (ii) making new catalynt from electrodeposited nanoparticles, etc. Artificial Neural Networks are utilized by us in numerous applications. Among them in (i) the development of force field parameters used to compute crystal structures of known compounds as well as crystals still to be synthesized, (ii) prediction of stability constants of metal ions with a selected ligand, (iii) analytical applications (qualitative and quantitative) when a work is done on very difficult matrices. Our research activities are around (i) the development of knowledge base for bone cancer therapy, (ii) development of an on-line monitoring system in non-aqueous solutions for industrial applications at Sasol, (iii) development of an on-line monitoring of electrolytic production of chromic acid, fundamental studies on new electrode materials for industrial applications, (iv) computational study and modeling of interactions between the bone and potential drugs for bone cancer treatment, (v) fundamental studies related to solution chemistry (a study of metal-ligand interactions and the determination of stability constants), (vi) development of new electrocatalynts. This involves tailor-.. Nanoparticles composed of monol….. Of different metals
