HIV treatment and AIDS pathogenesis research

The HIV research group under supervision of Professor Meyer is involved in developing non-toxic inhibitors of HIV replication as well as metabonomic evaluation of HIV/AIDS using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Metabonomics is done to detect new markers of disease progression while the treatment research, based on natural products and metal-containing compounds is an attempt at identifying novel anti-HIV drugs
