Selected Highlights from Research Findings
The corruption of judges is traced in Roman law and the English common law. The common law of bribery was explicitly repealed by the Corruption Act in 1992, which statute was quickly replaced by the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act 12 of 2004. These statutes penalise corruption in the widest sense and in all forms and has brought the special attention attributed by both Roman and common law to the corrupted judge to an end in South Africa
