Environmental Epidemiology

The term environment means everything that is not genetic, such as diet, smoking, and even exercise that may have an impact on the development, action, or survival of an organism or group of organisms. Environmental epidemiology has a more restricted connotation, however, referring to the disease consequences of involuntary exposures to physical, biological, or chemical factors in the general environment and are outside the immediate control of the individual.
