Comparative law composes of an examination of the nature, role and purpose of comparative study and the steps taken in employing a comparative methodology. It incorporates a look at legal families, cultures and traditions and the role of these classifications. Comparative law is vital in a global environment and concepts such as globalisation, codification, harmonisation and pluralism form an integral part of the subject matter.
