New applications for the serum NT-proBNP assay in the assessment of cardiac function

Aim is threefold: a) to investigate the biological variation of NT-proBNP; b) to assess whether NT-proBNP can be used as an alternative to Troponin-T in patients presenting with chest pain to the Emergency Department; and c) to evaluate whether NT-proBNP can replace ECG in the screening assessment of cardiac function for insurance purposes.
